For my birthday last weekend we went to St. Petersburg. We rode a bullet train and I have no desire to ever take my kids on a train of that sort again. :) But the way home was much better and we saw some beautiful things there.
The first place we visited was St. Isaac's Cathedral.

Conveniently, there was a playground across the street we could let the kids play at while we took turns climbing to the top. Unfortunately, that meant Oliver started the day with muddy knees.

I swear I have seen this picture somewhere - like on an Ensign or something. Anyway, it is Peter with the Keys of the Priesthood. The church looks a little dark because we are lame at taking pictures, it wasn't actually that dark.
You've almost totally convinced me to start saving my money for a trip to Russia. Are you up for visitors?? Anyway, that picture of Peter is pretty typical iconography for Peter, so you've almost certainly seen it in a number of other churches (but probably not the Ensign.) It's kind of weird that St. Isaac's looks pretty much like a rip-off of St. Peter's in Rome... Happy Birthday!
