This is "OMAR," the gardener who cuts the grass by machete not mower, and one of our two security guards. We always have two on duty (at least) and they carry a night stick and handcuffs and guard this gate. I trust the gate more than the guards considering robbers carry AK-47s (not much a match to a night stick). However, the guards open the gate for us which is quite nice and if any friends come to visit they inspect their car before letting them in. Often times we have "MOPO" which is a car outside with two more guards and then two hired Nigerian policemen that travel and cover all our compounds so we don't always have one. Sometimes the police are wearing flip flops and who knows if their gun has bullets and if they know how to shoot it, but . . . . it is still maybe a robber distraction.Friday, April 24, 2009
